Manhattan is the oldest, smallest and most densely-populated of the five boroughs of New York City. A borough is a unique form of government that administers the five fundamental constituent parts of the consolidated city. Technically, under New York State Law, a "borough" is a municipal corporation that is created when a county is merged with the cities, towns, and incorporated villages within it.

Manhattan, long considered one of the top travel locations in the world, is not just about skyscrapers, neon lights, and non-stop fun; it's a vibrant city with something of interest for everyone of every age. Its neighborhoods are made up of diverse cultures and flavors as well as architecture; but the common thread is the energy that runs through it all. One can say that borough is a plethora of excitement. It has some of the largest and most interesting museums worldwide, the epitome of world-class theater productions, first class shopping and more than 18,000 restaurants with cuisine from just about every part of the globe.

There are so many important, enjoyable and fascinating things to see, that perhaps more than one or two trips are in order. At the tip, you'll find a priceless section of real estate, the city's financial district. It just happens to be the center of finance of the United States and the most talked about in the world. You'll recognize Wall Street and the New York stock exchange on your way to Battery Park, the place from where visitors depart by ferry to the Statue of Liberty, which next to the flag, is the most famous symbol of freedom. As you continue on your tour of this place, you'll see interesting neighborhoods like Tribeca, an area filled with trendy restaurants and made famous by Robert DeNiro's annual film festival. You'll also come across SoHo and Greenwich Village with a Bohemian artsy character of their own, and the Lower East side, now a modernized section, known as the Jewish immigrants' part of town, with fabulous kosher restaurants and synagogues. Nearby, you'll find small neighborhoods like L
ittle Italy and Chinatown, boasting great restaurants created by immigrants who have lived here for years.

Uptown is yet another world, different architecture and more of the exuberance and elegance that makes It such a special place. The Upper East Side is a display of Manhattan's wealth, with amazing buildings and fabulously dressed people. At the heart of Manhattan, you'll find Central Park, one of the greatest pleasures, a beautiful place to spend the day and appreciate nature. It is the site of many movies, and most romantic spot. Take a ride on a horse-drawn carriage, and see what makes this the most visited park.

But even more than for the fabulously dressed people, this area of Manhattan is known for its museums. The most famous of all, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, is the largest, with three million objects from almost every culture known to man. However, the list of museums does not end here. It's worth exploring each and every one, as they all offer amazing subjects of interest.
